We spend most of the day working and, in order to be productive, we have to feel well. If the work place is inspiring, it goes a long way towards increasing personal satisfaction and, consequently, productivity.
And it is very easy to customize your work place, but be careful not to exaggerate with the personal decorative objects, it is important that you feel “at home”, but without forgetting the professionalism. Here are half a dozen tips:
Don’t exaggerate with the personal objects
Personal objects, such as photographs of the honeymoon, beach holidays, in a swimsuit or of your pet, are not a good idea to place on the desk. You can always choose a work of art or a motivational phrase, but don’t forget that work should be in the foreground!
Keep the desk clean and functional
Keep the surface of the desk clean and tidy. Make sure that your space is functional and cosy for yourself, but also for the colleagues that visit your space.
Make your space healthier
Use, but do not abuse, the power of plants. There are plants for all environments, from the brighter ones to the darker ones. In common, they have the ability to purify the air and to make the space more beautiful, more interesting and healthier.
Make the space more comfortable
A good office chair should already be part of your company’s requirements, but to make it even more comfortable, you can always add a cushion for the seat. In this way, you can choose the pattern and the colour and add a little personality to the space.
Customize the lighting
The fluorescent lighting used in most of the offices can be aggressive to the eyes and unwelcoming. Consider adding a desk lamp with softer lighting so that you can see what you are doing well and make the space more welcoming.
Customize with accessories
There are functional items that can easily be customized to your style and taste. You can use your favourite mug to always have pencils and pens handy. Use a beautiful box to keep business cards, post-it’s and clips, or choose an original flowerpot for your plant.
